Who is I am Addicted?

Mutley Ravishes

When we take a good

Look at it

What exactly is

Addicted?

In all fairness

It cannot be our awareness

Of Being

Something else is stealing

The Light

A deep philosophical poem that deserves a good deal of pondering. The question remains unanswered. Well written

"My" awareness of being has never given me any trouble! Thanks for commenting.

        You are most welcome

I'll answer that question if you tell me where I Am Insane went, he took my pencil to sharpen his computer. 🤣🤷‍♂️

Now, that silliness aside. This is a profoundly important piece, my friend. It gets to the heart of something vitally important to me...labels and the negative effect they can have. Who is "I Am Addicted"? Who is "I Am Overweight?" This could be asked of so many different things and...the question becomes, are these labels helpful or harmful? Your poem gets into that and, I think, acknowledges that, indeed, there is something their to the label, and that "something" is affecting someone and stealing their light. Indeed. But label itself can go both ways and lock people away from light that was never stolen to begin with. So, not sure if I am close or now spiraling through the Outer Rim in hyperspace...but your poem (all 9 lines of it) got me thinking about all of this. Fantastic write, my friend!

Thanks, Tristan. Yes, I was hinting at identification with...limitation, I guess. I remember an Indian teacher saying that back in the day kids in some regions were encouraged to develop a cosmic identity. How different is that from "I am an addict," "I am broken," etc though of course, we may well need to acknowledge that in the beginning. But to to stay in that belief for the rest of our lives?!
