Her Eyes

tkatie118

I told her she’s one of a kind,

There ain’t no girl who makes me smile like that,

She said, “That’s a good lie”

Her blue eyes began to glaze like Summer rain,

And I knew I had to take away her pain

I held her close, I held her tight,

And by her side I was with her through it all

As I rocked her softly to sleep,

In my arms a book, to her I would read

When now you think of Miss Collins,

Does she make you think of me?

When you see her smile,

Will you see me bent down on my knees?

When now you think of Miss Collins,

Will you see me through her eyes?

‘Cause seeing you smile,

Is like Michelle saying to me, “goodnight.”

The days beyond us saw some years,

Of growth, grief, sadness and some tears

I held your hand through every moment,

Every story that I told,

Every piece of history we made,

Every way in which we discover we’re not the same,

As we once were

You a star, and me the sun

Between us a black hole, and fires burn,

But there for each other at every turn

No matter the cost we both must earn

We suffer together, or far apart

‘Cause the eyes of Miss Collins keep falling from sun,

Inside our hearts

And as long as smile she does,

Though apart we are in distance, we’re kept together

Through the crack inside her scars

An angel, A symbol, A lifeline

Someone strong for us to hold onto,

And when the time comes, she’ll leave us

But at least we lived through a strength,

So bold,

And true

When now we venture into the darkness,

Will the words, “Miss Collins” make you think of me?

When you see her smile,

Will you hold me?

Will you see me bent down on my knees?

When now you think of Miss Collins,

Will you see me smiling through her eyes?

‘Cause seeing the light within you,

Come alive,

Is Michelle saying to me, “goodnight”
