I witnessed
Angels without power
Who could
No longer fly
I saw their marble tears
Frozen to the sky.
Wings that fell
Helpless
In defeat and pain
The growling brow of Heaven
The sheer cosmos
Under strain.
Noble eyes
Now doubt the moment
Their shimmering light
Begins to fade
Slowly without reason
Downward in their pain.
