NIGHT DISCOLORING

Durdica Porobija

When we step into the night,

Colors fade away.

Night dismisses the rainbow

with a chiaroscuro brush.

Only hues remain:

light dark, dark and darkly dark.

Remote suns and planets tremble

in the firmament harbouring

the secrets of life expectant.

And to beings who gaze at us numbly,

squandering treasuries of prized jewels

to delight us no end,

Plane is stalling in vortex

losing us to vertigo one by one,

the voyagers hanging onto air

by the skin of their teeth.

We plant on the heavenly azure the sparks

of our eyes' mental flame

We also plant the flowers of evil

Cities emit / spew light pollution

while the shadows of robbers and murderers

dart in gloom to and fro.

In the Bahnhofsviertel district of Frankfurt

the damned fallen sprawl across the pavement,

stains of grey, poor souls, souls of Miserere

petering out into nowhere.

At the station in Brüssel, the shadows sway

In search of prey

The absence of colours is getting longer

Dark shade covers the world

The colours only return

when the Sunrays fingertip

reaches out to poppy bud

or a crimson-yellow autumn leaf.
