I want to know you

Dustandlace

I will not ask for miracles

nor will I ask for handouts

I ask for true faith and security

I have lived in comfort of the unknown,

I have lived in a conspiracy of myself

I have been sarcastic of your name

Ignorant and meaningless of it actually

I apologize for that but forgiveness is your name

Right?

If he is in the silence,

teach my racing thoughts to trust.

If God is fire, let me meet Him

without being burned or blind

let His warmth become familiar,

let His light reshape my mind.

I pray for help with my doubt, and comfort in him i will find.

I want to feel him walking in the space between my doubt,

like the steady pulse of comfort i can’t name, yet can’t live without.

I want the word amen to become more familiar

I want that word to rest on my tongue like muscle memory,

and I’ll learn the Bible until my heart carries its summary

I want to know you.

A poem that takes the most interesting approach of a dialogue with God or one's greater power and the asking for greater ability to forgive and greater faith. Very nicely constructed

        You are most welcome

Your first stanza, both honest and forthright, sets the stage for the beautiful prayer that follows. Wonderful write!
