My Fragments

soheil khodaparasti

Sparrow-like,
each day I gathered a speck of my heart
from wherever it had fallen
and tucked it into my crop,
lest the winds of the world
empty me of my own self.

And when evening came,
I would perch on a silent branch
and from those tiny heart-crumbs
build myself a new nest,
so that tomorrow
I could once again
take flight anew.

I can not help myself and have to give it a fave. I read it twice and each time it got better

Thank you so much! That truly means a lot. I am delighted to hear it held up on a second read and that you enjoyed it even more the second time. Your kindness is deeply appreciated.
