a beckettian interpretation of the great pumpkin

Jon Nakapalau

Whereas Vladimir and Estragon have each other to share the 'waiting' Linus is alone...after Sally leaves him it becomes clear that there is no 'treat' and this has all been a 'trick' - one could cogently argue that 'The Great Pumpkin' is (in actuality) a manifestation of the Buddhist concept of illusions about the true nature of existence. Linus adamantly adheres to his delusive inclinations; thus illusions innumerable as particles of sand on a beach prevent Linus from understanding that The Great Pumpkin was always within.
