New Beginning

Evie Baker

Sunlight shines on me

Birds singing

The morning has come

Wind pushes the clouds

High above

Gently waking the sky

Squirrels dance in trees

Songbirds soar

As the sun rises

People walk together

Hand in hand

A bright, new beginning

The once cold night

Of trembling souls

In the past, thawed at last

  • Comment from author about the poem: New Beginning is a collection of haikus using metaphors to bring hope with the coming of the morning. It describes the hope that comes with the beginning of a new day, the possibilities ahead of you, and the beauty in existence. Sometimes, it seems as though the cycle will never end, the morning will never come. But the sun rises every day. The clouds move constantly. Life continues, but not in an overwhelming way. It gently carries us away from the cold of the past, guiding us to the beautiful potential of tomorrow.

Very nice and imaged well. Loved it and its freshness.
