Hourglass and Bone

Kayla Jackson

The case unclasped, the cells withdrawn.

The pulse of seconds ceased.

In that moment, the sky opened up, giving me wings.

The air grew thin as I descended.

The soil recoiled as I was lowered;

The ground forever scarred.

And all that remained were memories,

perfectly preserved.

    The imagery in this poem is wonderful and it seemed surreal. The meaning too was wonderful as I thought of that is all that we are left with. A lovely piece and a fave
