Every Girl is a Poet

Molly Delaney

Every Girl is a Poet,

Born with an ability to weave stories of gold thread from the spool of our minds

Dragged into this world screaming and kicking and turning it to song

Watching as our sisters, mothers, friends are pillaged and making it into rhyme

Feeling each strike sting our skin and turning it into a stanza

An ability to find solace in words,

To find comfort in the truth curated by yourself,

Made true by your pen,

No reliance on actions,

On someone else

Save your own pens ink,

Every girl is a poet,

Begging to be understood

Craving understanding
