In a wilderness free from sight,
Where loud songs of birds are light,
And the voices of toads slight,
Where violence is not in sight,
Nor does the inhumane thrive.
In that wilderness lies a country,
With resources vast in bounty,
And minerals flowing in plenty,
But wisdom was scarce and scanty,
Understanding, sparse and tiny.
As a result, thorns began to grow from the ground;
One of those thorns, injustice, was found.
It grew mighty, deep, and profound,
Living large atop the city's mound.
This thorn overthrew the king,
And ruled with an infectious sting.
Its voice had a tempting ring,
And its strings, willfully binding.
Its euphoria was deeply enticing,
As the people forgot their land’s first rising.
Carried away by the rule of this monster,
They were left battered, bruised, and somber.

- Comment from author about the poem: Thorns in the Wilderness: The Rise of Injustice is an allegorical reflection on the decline of a society blessed with natural wealth but lacks wisdom and moral grounding. Through poetic imagery, it explores how injustice can silently grow, take root, and eventually overpower a nation when truth, understanding, and justice are neglected or absent. It is both a lament and a call to awaken, and restore justice where it once slept.

A message I hear. Being a cynic I fear that there has never been a truly just nation or society and that only the blinding distancing of time's glasses makes us dream of such a Camelot. It is a lovely thought though and the poem is very nice
