The cold foggy days of December in Graz
A little too many drinks I’ve had
Waiting in the haze of golden yellow
Streetlights, making me (almost) sad
(Almost) uncertain and (almost) numb
My ache has entered a new lane
A rare peace, the same yearning
I think of love and it drives me insane
What would having a guy change?
He’d sit with me, tell me I am nice
Either with love or a lonely lust
Either way the answer won’t suffice
At least not in the long run
Will he stay, will I stay, doesn’t matter
It won’t stay fresh forever anyway
Whatever builds up, is destined to shatter

Great poem, showing the ebbs and flows of love and relationship. When the relationship gets stale, I think it’s important to freshen it up with reminders of why being in love. It’s interesting cause I’m currently going through a phase with my wife and this poem was definitely inspiring… thank you!
I am glad you could relate and enjoy this poem
I see this poem as highly existential as a search for identity and direction where love is not the object but merely a rock in the whitewater. Nicely written
I feel that way too yes!
