Familiarity

I love listening to music in the showers

And even in my sleep

Perhaps because the voices make me feel less alone

But nothing assures me

Like the familiar shuffle of slippers against the wooden floor

With the television noises in the background 

And the sound of the coffee machine whirring to pour into the cup 

That's when I truly know I am not alone
