Who could imagine (dragon

to disrupt the screen's electrostatic field,
allowing said surface

internal electronics or batteries,
making it universal
for most smartphones, tablets,
and other capacitive touch devices.

There wasn't one single inventor
of the capacitive stylus; rather,
the underlying
capacitive touch screen technology
developed by E.A. Johnson (1960s)
for finger input,
while brothers Ronald
and Malcolm Binstead
(mid-1980s) pioneered
projected capacitive touchscreens,
and later inventors
like James Tagg
(Sunlight Aerospace)
refined them for modern devices,
with early stylus use
for touchscreens
appearing with resistive tech
(Sam Hurst's Elograph, 1970s)
and transparent capacitive ones
(Beck & Stumpe, 1973).
