Winter drink

Maplespal

The road was mostly clear of all the snow that fell,
on the sides last nights storm came you can tell.
Waist high as they no longer take the snow away,
push it off the road and build the piles that stay.
The wind each day puts some back on the cleared,
hiding the melted frozen beneath to be feared.
Missing the days when safety was more of a concern,
the environment wanting cars in the ditch at each turn.
Some day I will simply make my coffee in my home,
to avoid the danger of the winter coffee roam.
Driving around on an emptied road for my drink.
I'm taking in the winter while I drive and think.

A dangerous journey for a hot drink better to make it at home for sure. Well written with good rhyme and images that bring back memories. The metaphor is deeper and it is often not just coffee that should be made at home but even the brewing of our social relationships
