Becoming Night in Winter

PerditaRose

Clouds suspended in light blue sky

Tinged pink by the lowering sun

Creates a beautiful backdrop

For silhouetted limbs and trunks

A pantomime frozen in time

Winter viewed from my back windows

When mute twilight drains the color

From the darkening twilight sky.

Then cold moonlight distinguishes

With black shadows draping over

Strange objects cowering under

Winter’s frigid snowy mantle.

Well written, my friend. Your poem “Becoming Night in Winter” captures the serene yet haunting transition from day to night during winter, portraying the beauty and stillness of the season. It reflects on the interplay between light and shadow, color and monochrome, and evokes feelings of tranquility mixed with an underlying sense of cold isolation.
