Ogden Nash

Kevin Hulme

Could I write of matters that boil the blood

Like a Man of talent surely could;

I'd trash the Government with Caustic Wit;

That House of Cards where Jokers sit.

To Warring Tyrants with Threats to shout;

They're a Pain in the Side -  or there about.

And the constant Rain forever seen;

Being not Gene Kelly I'll Vent my Spleen.

To the daily Strife between Man and Wife;

Variations therein that form their life.

The Public transport Shoddy and Late;

With the secret Smokers that often Grate.

The Temperance Man to the Drinking growd;

One being Dull and the other quite Loud.

But not every Rhyme will be Doom and Gloom;

I'm sure for Mirth I will find some room;

Those Oddities of life that make One smile;

And Written I'm sure in a Whimsical Style.

As the Children will laugh to see much Fun;

In a Man of years whose Heart is young.

For the Nursery Rhymes will have a Twist;

So Mother Goose will not be Missed.

For the World at large will Read my Brain;

On the many Mad and the few that's Sane.

All Matters I'd touch to please or Trash -

If I could Pen fine Verse like Ogden Nash.
