"It's Okay to Love Yourself"
It's okay to cup your face in your hands
and whisper, You’re enough,
to mean it like spring means blossoms—
inevitable, tender, sure.
It's okay to stand before the mirror
not to fix, but to thank—
for the legs that carried you through storms,
for the eyes that have wept and witnessed,
for the breath that still rises, quiet and constant,
like a tide returning home.
It's okay to forgive the stumbles,
the words you wished unsaid,
the days you barely faced the light.
You were doing your best with a heart
that had never done this before.
Love yourself not because you’re perfect,
but because you’re alive—
a mosaic of scars and laughter,
of courage you didn’t know you had,
of love you’ve given and forgotten.
It's okay to rest.
To say no without guilt.
To eat the cake. To close the book.
To choose yourself,
not as an act of pride,
but as an act of peace.
You are not a project to be completed.
You are a person to be honored.
A story still unfolding,
verse by fragile, beautiful verse.
So let your hands be gentle
when they hold your truth.
Let your voice be kind
when it speaks your name.
It’s not just okay to love yourself—
it’s essential.
Like water. Like light.
Like breathing in,
and breathing out,
and choosing, again and again,
to stay.

Good write F.
Thank you so much.
A fave for the message in this poem. It is essential if one wishes to love someone or something else to love oneself first, if not there is no earth from which that seed can grow. A lovely poem of preparing the garden before planting the seed.
Wow, you really understand what I was painting. Thank you, my friend, for your kind words and for the. favorite.β€οΈ

Well, thank you for the read and your kind words,
I love this! Meaningful, powerful. Resonates with me! Well done.
Katie, I'm sorry I overlooked your comment today. I don't know why. I appreciate your visit and thoughtful review of my poem.
Reading this feels like being spoken to slowly, with intention. I connect with the reminder that self-love isnβt indulgence but survival, something learned over time rather than achieved all at once. That truth lands quietly but firmly. Very well done, my friend. πΉπ€ππ―οΈπ¦ββ¬

Spoken with wisdom. So many "stumble" and give up hope. Your words are uplifting and encouraging. Like you have said, "It's essential" to our own well-being. A lovely poem full of wisdom. Much enjoyed. - Phil A.

Beautifully said. This reads like a quiet, tender reminder we all need β to honor ourselves, our scars, and our small victories. Thank you for putting such gentle, necessary words into the world. πΏπ
