The Torch Passed

Kurt Philip Behm

The Ancestral Pen

when passing down

to heirs apparent

is thus endowed

Its ink distilling

what time cannot

a legacy willing

what can’t be bought

The Ancestral Pen

rewrites the tome

of generations

that sat the throne

From voices distant

to voices near

the torch is passed

— the future clear

Kurt, this is a quiet meditation on legacy done right. You let lineage speak through action and transmission rather than grandeur. The poem feels less about power and more about stewardship, and that choice makes it linger. Strong work. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

The passing down of anything is something to be treasured and I have often thought that the passing down extends to those genes that can not be stolen or taken by the unworthy. I hear that here is where the ancestral pen is passed down not just in the paper and pen itself or left documents and writings. Very nice Kurt
