Odette's Lament

𝓱𝓪𝔂𝓵𝓮𝓲𝓰𝓱

you've got emeralds in your eyes,

I've got sapphires in my heart

and your soul is carved from opal

how can love tear me apart,

away from you?

so I scream

until you assume I'm having fun.

and I bleed

until I erase all that you have done.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I hope all of you had a very merry christmas! I have finally decided to write a novel. The story (amongst others) has been floating around my mind and I've flirted with the idea, but I've finally committed. This poem is based on it, without spoilers, of course lol

This poem is full of jewels and with them it is a shame that love could not be purchased. Well done

My friend, I’ve known that space where pain gets misread as play and silence becomes self-protection. The way you frame love as something that both dazzles and destroys feels painfully true. This stays with me. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

I enjoy your story. Your story explores themes of love, heartbreak, and the internal struggle that arises from a seemingly unbalanced emotional connection between two individuals. The references to gemstones symbolize the preciousness of the relationship, while also indicating the deep wounds inflicted by love.
