A Virus of the Soul

A Virus of the Soul

We walk this earth, with hearts on fire
Leaving chaos, our desires conspire
To take and destroy, without a thought
Leaving ruin, a trail we've wrought

Oh, are we the disease, that's spreading fast?
Consuming all, leaving nothing to last
A virus of the soul, with no regard
Are we the plague, that's tearing us apart?

We chase our dreams, with reckless abandon
Forgetting the cost, of our selfish plan
But deep inside, a voice is calling
To balance progress, with a loving hand

Oh, are we the disease, that's spreading fast?
Consuming all, leaving nothing to last
A virus of the soul, with no regard
Are we the plague, that's tearing us apart?

Maybe we're the key, to unlock the door
To a brighter day, where love is the score
We can heal the world, with a gentle touch
If we choose to love, and let go of our hunch

Oh, are we the disease, that's spreading fast?
Consuming all, leaving nothing to last
A virus of the soul, with no regard
Are we the plague, that's tearing us apart?

A write that is thought provoking in that I have often thought of humans as a virus that destroys our environment. Well done

Well said. Your poem revolves around the themes of human behavior, selfishness, and the consequences of a lack of empathy. It raises questions about responsibility and the possibility of change, urging readers to consider the impact of their actions on the world.
