letterbox (as a child)

Fred1794

your relationship

with family is strange

  flowing

    long

      petals

lined up on a mailbox

  in acrylics

  and

  your brother

    gets painted over

I check the mailbox

for the excitement

  of receiving mail

not caring if it's for me

  or not

Very symbolic this poem paints a clear image of looking for different things in an interpretation that varies from person to person and leads to misunderstanding the actions of another. Nicely done

  • Friendship

Nicely worded. Your poem revolves around the complexities of familial relationships and the bittersweet nature of communication and connection. The mailbox serves as a metaphor for the anticipation and disappointment often found in familial interactions.
