The smile
Did not return
No ones fault
The candle burns
Deeper places
We knew as true
Love it faltered
For me and you.
The arch of wisdom
Like castle walls
Strong and sturdy
Stoically returns
Its pointed face
Of granite blocks
Searches not
For what it lost.
A wisping quiet
Upon fortress high
Surveys its tears
From drying eye
A distant view
Half forgotten phrase
Reminds us both
We loved in haste.

Good write N. Did you write this in haste, or slowly? lol.
everything I write is in haste, no second drafts lol
Lol. I occasionally do second drafts of parts of poems.
I keep odd verses
I'm guessing this is a love that did not live, it "faltered." How tragic to lose what was thought to be forever. Bless you.

Sad yet all too real a poem of quick passion that burns out too soon and that ashes that are left afterwards. A fave
