Behind The Fuse Box

Kurt Philip Behm

The wiring harness

connecting life

crossed

but grounded sure

Eluding sight

and force of will

its power

most secure

And only seen

when time shorts out

in flashes

not to last

Of red and black

and green contacts

that charge

— the future past

Ah Kurt you struck a nerve and short circuited me. In reading this I remembered doing some wiring in the old house I was remodeling and the rat nest of wires in the ceiling that were red, black, white, green and yellow. I knew that the red was supposed to be hot but so too could be the white the green was supposed to be ground but with such a nest I was unsure of anything. A good read my friend and Happy New Year to you

Kurt, this is precise and quietly philosophical. You let wiring, color, and time speak together, suggesting continuity even through shorting and sparks. By the end, the future feels charged by what’s already been lived. Strong, thoughtful work. πŸŒΉπŸ–€πŸ™πŸ•―οΈπŸ¦β€β¬›
