Standing down

byyvette

Every time

I tried to rise

You shut me down

Locked me out of the house

Or send me back to the lion’s den

No protection

Just bowed

To listen

I kept rising

Standing up

Yet, again I was not listened too

Sent back into my room

Every time

I tried to rise

You shut me down

Leaving me to think

I was not good enough

I was not allowed to be there

I was not allowed to be strong

I was not allowed to be born

Until I decided to stand down

And left

A poem of perceived abuse and being put down. One needs to be strong enough to not allow anyone influence who you are. Well written
