সভ্যতা আজ মরে গেছে—
হয়নি এখনো দাফন,
মৃত সভ্যতা মূর্তির মতো,
পরনে নেই কাফন।
নির্বোধ মানব, মৃতের পূজারি,
নিরস পাথর-মূর্তির,
পাথর চুম্বনে তাই দেখা দেয়
ধ্বংস–প্রলয়–অগ্নির।
সভ্যতার প্রাণ—মনুষ্যত্ব, প্রেম,
মধুকূপী রসমঞ্জরি,
পুষ্পশূন্য, শুষ্ক হেম,
যেন রিক্তের আহাজারি।
লৌহকপাট ভেঙে দিলে,
মরা গাঙে ডাকবে বান—
প্রেম-স্পন্দনে জেগে উঠবে
মানব সভ্যতার প্রাণ।
