Returning Reconciliation

Hymn & Tune: All for Jesus

Hosea 14 v.1-7

*********

Israel to the Lord God return

He your God, of Him now learn

For you have fallen by your sins

But by Him can be forgiven

Take to you words, to the Lord turn

Say to Him, Forgive, discern

We pray, receive us graciously

So to you our praise shall be

Foreign nations shall not us save

Nor idols to which we gave

Worship, for in you the needy

Find mercy, to you our plea

The Lord says, I will then heal their

Backsliding, my love I share

With them freely, my anger turned

From them, though once to them burned

I will be as the dew to my

People, to them ally

They shall grow, blossom as lilies

Have roots as Lebanon's trees* (*cedar trees)

Their branches shall spread, their beauty

Shall as the olive tree be

Their aroma as Lebanon's

Fresh like nature's daughters, sons

They shall dwell beneath my shadow

Return to me and me know

Shall grow as corn, vine, be sweet wine

Humans blessed with life divine

God's promise to his people according to Biblical account. Very nicely worked into hymn form as a poem Orchi.

Thank you SB. In some things it's difficult to know if material or spiritual blessings are meant. Could be both I suppose.

You are most welcome my friend I guess to God it doesn't make any difference since a gift is a gift. You are not supposed to look a gift horse in the mouth, but those Trojans would have been better off if they had. They might have noticed something inside.

You seen any wooden horses about? There's a naughty joke -'about as rare as rocking horse..... 'something!

You know that joke? If you do, don't repeat it in public! Well, there's even more naughty jokes that that. If you don't know I can tell ya in private.

This is very topical & whilst I know it won't go down all round and with everyone .. I fear it will take a very long time before Israel will be forgiven for taking vengeance far too far

Yes, thank you N. Ohh - but I can't have figs! They're fatal for me (not literally but you get the general idea). Can I have an apple tree or summat instead?! lol.

Excellent, Orchi. I really do love your hymn-poemns.

                  Glug.

Uh-oh. He's got something to say...you knowing who he be...

                  "After last night's...glug...I be returning regurgitation! Ah-gah-gah-gah-glug-glug! 🤮 🤣

                  • orchidee

Thank you T. Ohh, give him those fig trees in the poem. That'll keep him 'trotting!' lol.

The natural imagery—dew, roots, branches—works well with the scripture. It gives the hymn a gentle flow.

Thank you T. Earthly blessings as well as more 'spiritual' blessings, I suppose.
