Fate

Joseph M Marion

Fate

There are things I know to come,
Heavy as a setting sun,
Shadows lengthen, cold and wide,
Truths I carry, cannot hide.

I try to turn, to close my eyes,
But fate’s harsh whisper never lies.
The future looms, a silent cry,
A sorrow I cannot deny.

No cloak can shield the aching heart,
No darkness keep the pain apart.
What’s meant to be, a bitter tide,
Washes hope and dreams aside.

So here I stand, alone, afraid,
With trembling hands and soul betrayed.
For things I know to come, I dread,
A silent grief I cannot shed.

Because most people cannot see beyond the end of their hand,
they cannot have faith in the simplest of things,

So here's where it lies in silence with me fate we'll just have to let it be.

Choice of destiny is the old question and here there are many that have little faith in destiny. A lovely write
