Have you ever heard?
Of the ship of all ships?
Pirates and sailors all
Curse her name in the dark
The shadow
Said to contain
Riches beyond riches
Mark my words
All she brings
Is misery and death
I myself
Have scars to prove it
Escaped her clutches
You don't believe me?
I don't tell tall tales
I was barely,
A young'un myself
Still wet behind my ears
My crew perished
Only I remained
The seas were still
No waves, no wind, no gulls
Pitch black, no stars in sight
And suddenly, no warning
She was there
Her hull, dark as night
We never stood a chance
Cause once she was upon us
My captain in a trance
Steered us right to her
No crew to man her
Her rigging came alive
Ropes whipping, sails flapping
As if in heavy wind
A storm that never ends
One by one
My crew was plucked
Far up into the air
Flailing and screaming
Piercing the silent night
My captain, eyes glazed
Caught by her pull
Walked as if on air
And grabbed her helm
A dead smile across his face
I jumped
I'm not ashamed to say
As ropes flailed about me
I cut myself loose
And myself in the process
I grabbed a plank of wood
And watched
The shadow engulfed
My ship whole
As I floated away
After that, it's a blur
I washed up on the shore
As the sun broke the night
On the beach of Broken mast bay
Where I've been ever since
You better heed my words
Or you will chase her too
In search of fame and riches
And end up yourself
With a dead smile on your face
You snicker and laugh
I hear you well
It is true, I tell you
You better believe
I tell no tall tales
