Oval Moons Of Omen

Aman 12

"Money can’t buy happiness"
is a fortune cookie lie
sealed in steel box guarding
its last two eggs.

The eggs sweat
when they know they are next.
Oval moons spreading omens
under the vastness of indulgence.

"Money can’t buy happiness"
is an anthem shouted from
balconies to basements,
drifting from a banquet of naked plates.

Lungs coated with expired advice
harden into the rule of survival.
Ribs adapt to collapsing spines
beneath pretentious philosophies.
