I hope you find a love
stronger than every goodbye
you learned to survive.
Because you’ve said too many of them
with your chin lifted,
your hands shaking,
and a voice that kept breaking
even when you pretended it wasn’t.
I saw how you stayed kind
while your heart kept packing its bags.
How you smiled through exits
you never wanted to make.
I hope love meets you
after the last time you had to be brave
just to be left.
May it be heavy enough to make you stay,
soft enough to let you fall apart,
and patient enough to sit with you
when your voice trembles again.
You’ve mastered leaving.
I hope love teaches you how to be held.
