Night rain seems to possess surreal beauty.
The glow of car lights punctuate its presence.
In late December, on cold, bustling streets,
It captures winter's dark, eerie essence.
Even now, in January, it is
Relentless. Yet, each silvery drop holds
A certain odd splendour to those of us
With curious eyes. Night rain stirs the soul.

Watery reflections mirror mental reflections that are all best seen in the dark. A lovely write
Thanks Soren...it was originally a quatrain, but I revised it so that January got a mention...ha-ha!
You are most welcome Dominic
Ive always found the way light interacts with the rain makes it surreal
Yes, dark December at 4pm; come Summer, dark at 9pm or later! I'm a doom merchant. When it gets to June 21, I say 'Don't worry; the nights are drawing in again now!' heehee.
Thanks, yes it's terrible driving on the reads near where I love from late afternoon onwards, but I guess it will get better soon.
Yes, it is so beautiful!
Thanks for your kind comment...much appreciated!
Dominic, the image of car lights punctuating the rain really holds this together. That small visual keeps the whole poem grounded while the mood deepens around it. Subtle and effective. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Thanks Tristan...I really appreciate your kind and perceptive comments.
You are most welcome, Dominic!
