" And the darkness could not extinguish the Light." (The Gospel of John: Chapter 1)
Praised be the consoling light that protects:
the light of sanctuary from the darkest, unknown fear;
the light, that glows for those, who meditate in the midnight hour.
Blessed be the singing light that beautifies:
the light that fractures through figurative stained glass panes;
the light that punctuates the pure womb of blue; of sky and sea
Praised be the profound light that guides:
the light that inspires the genius of creators;
the light which is invisible to mortal vision.
Blessed be the warm light that unites:
the light of grace; of silent communion
the light which dissolves the boundaries between us.

A fine write D. Some versions have 'The darkness has not comprehended the light' - not understood it? can't overcome it?
Thanks...that's interesting. I always like to know more about different interpretations of biblical text. This poem is actually an old one of mine, but I revised it during the Christmas holidays to include an extra stanza.
I'm not keen on modern-type versions. I only tend to use them where the meanings or passages are difficult in older versions.
This poetic set of tercets is spiritual in nature evoking a blessing on those that listen. It is a prayer of peace and well being nicely written.
Thank Soren. Yes, I've written several poems using these sets. In this one, I made heavy use of anaphora to provide it with a prayer- like mood.
You are most welcome Dominic
