Excuses Set Sail

Kurt Philip Behm

The wickedness

of man

trumps the goodness

of God

What’s harder for

a child

to see their mother dead

or their father sob

The greater number

of a man’s errors

come disguised

as perfection

As excuses

sets sail

on the sea

— of perdition

Poignant and shoots to the heart in a world ablaze where justice left long ago. Sad and so meaningful. A fave

Kurt, this is stark and unsettling in the absolute best way. The moral weight doesn’t argue…it confronts. Each short line lands like a hard truth we’d rather avoid. Excellent job! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛
