She looked at the cup on the sink
The solitary cup
Like it was the most important thing in the world
She saw a man, full of promises
She saw another man, devastated
The promises didn’t last
Forgiveness begged
The door closing
Reality
She grabbed the cup
Smashing it into pieces
She gazed at the scene
Fascinated
Every piece representing her life
She started to laugh
Uncontrollably
Anyone watching, thinking
Great joke,
They would be right
She thought to herself.

A dramatic poem that in metaphor captures a life in a cup personified. Shattered and a joke laughed at now a tragic loss. Even the hand that threw it responsible for the breakage. Very nicely done Paul
Life sure is tough in the love game.
The game with the most marbles passing on one's genes is the roughest amongst all living things. Well written
Paul, this is stark and effective. The build from quiet observation to violent release feels inevitable, and the final self-awareness complicates it in a powerful way. A hard, well-held piece. Great job, my friend! 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛
Relationships, who would have them.
Indeed!
An insight crept up unbidden as these can do, and hopefully the seed of real growth. Documented plainly with real meaning, Paul.
Yeah, it can only make you tougher.
That struck home cleanly and there is that Ground Zero feel to it.🙏🏻🕊️
It sure is ground zero.
heartbreak - so beautifully portrayed through a lovely poem...
Sad reality of life.
yes indeed
