Nobel peace prize

NafisaSB

How  do you justify

A  woman’s who won the Nobel

Then gives it away to a leader

Who spouts hate and trouble ?

Is she morally weak

Or was she under pressure ?

How could one hand over

The greatest national treasure ?

Incredible, Disheartening

How is one so blind?

One truly wonders

What’s going on in her mind…

For the new recipient claims

That he’s finally won the prize

At what cost was it sold

How heavy was the price?

The Nobel committee claims

A prize cannot be shared

So what is the sorry tale

That has been now bared ?

So the medal can be sold

Or it can be given away

But the original recipient’s name

Is the one that will always stay.

    totally in agreement

    • NafisaSB

glad to know that you agree...

Hard to know what is going on in Venezuela, the US – or for that matter what is going on with the Nobel prize…. Complicated. One thing is for sure, the world is becoming more insane (or should that be insanitary – probably a combination of both) under the role of the current US President, And this provides perfect symbolic evidence of the state the world is becoming.
Great write, good to see you riled up a little.

power corrupts and absolute power in the hands of a reckless leader is scary - the world is bearing the consequences of electing a mega.....iac..every time i read or hear the news, i find something to think/grieve about and wonder if there is still hope for mankind...
the only thing we can do is give a shout out where possible, and hope some sane persons are listening..

Got you the first time!😂On one level , not to worry too much... A role call of the Nobel Peace Prize can look like a bit of a rogues gallery from time to time.. However as a symbol of the state of the world, this transfer can induce a mixture of laughter and vomit.

            • NafisaSB

SORRY - Was not aware it went twice...
i agree with your thoughts and sentiments : though don't know whether to cry or puke though as i find it barely laughable

Venezuela's recent history is worth a study if you have the time (my knowledge is pretty superficial, but I think you would have some trouble in differentiating the 'goodies' from the 'baddies' sometimes.)

                • NafisaSB

                  mine is not indepth too..
Maduro was a dictator and the country was in doldrums, but the opposition leader got the Nobel prize for exposing the going ons..so unable to understand why she would trade her country for another power hungry leader..
strange are the ways of human nature...she thinks she saved the country by handing it over on a platter, not to the highest bidder but the greediest who has his eyes only on her country's resources...
truly sad state of affair...now greenland in his sights, and canada already part of the us map????

Calm, deep breath through nose, hold for three, out through mouth gently, repeat.,.. who am I talking to? Where does she live? Coals to Newcastle 😂
'Hope you get the joke - starting to reach the stage beyond anger, bafflement where nothing feels quite real...
                    Take care of yourself.

                    • NafisaSB

thanks for the timely warning, [lol] and a good day to you...
exact sentiments expressed here - wonder what the game is, and where it will end - am aware, and yet baffled by the greed and lack of morality all around
so yes - better to take care of myself and my family , and let the world take care of itself....

Reminds me of children where a bully takes away another's prize and scratches his name on it refusing to give it to its rightful owner. What worth is a self awarded first place prize? A good read let him put it on his mantle with his other plastic trophies.

                      • NafisaSB

each and every word you have written rings true..
                        a truly nightmarish world today

                      • orchidee

Yes, and how to justify Nobel and his prize, for inventing dynamite - for peace?! Doh!

                        • NafisaSB

                          good point..how??

                        • Demar Desu

And this is why I’ve decided to stay out of politics… great poem

good decision - agree with you..but don't stop pointing out the injustices you see around you...

                          • Tristan Robert Lange

Safina, this poem asks the right questions and refuses to look away. The tension between honor, pressure, and accountability is laid bare, and the resulting disillusionment feels earned. I hear your frustration, and I share it. A strong, necessary piece. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

daily a new announcement that shocks - the world will now feel that Hitler was at least trying to restore the pride of the nation...
what is being done here, though???is this the great American dream ?

                              • Tristan Robert Lange

No, it is NOT the dream. It is a display of how much the dream was propaganda and was never fully attainable by anyone, let alone everyone. Growing up, I had the sense that America was progressing toward something better. But that, as it turned, was a part of the propaganda...and what was truly happening beneath. That's as I see it, my friend. But we are all in a world of hurt, I fear, the way things are going worldwide. I hope not...but it's not looking good.

                                • NafisaSB

                                  good morning from Mumbai
yes -i agree we all thought the great American dream would come true - alas, it was just a mirage cleverly fabricated and pushed down unsuspecting throats....the future looks bleak, but thankfully the Europeans and rest of the world are standing up to, and calling out the bullies, so there is hope for the world yet..
have a beautiful and relaxed weekend - and try to think of yourself, instead of the world this time - and stay happy

This piss prize has greatly rewarded warmongers ! Its nothing but a crap !

it used to be an honor to receive it when the recipients were worthy of the same...

"During his life, Nobel was issued 355 patents internationally, and by his death, his business had established more than 90 explosives and armament factories, despite his apparently pacifist character."

                                    • NafisaSB

So was the prize his way of atoning for his sins🤔

                                      • Mutley Ravishes

Maybe it was? I sure hope so.

I suppose she sees it as a small price to pay for her country.
Sadly, the man child covets such things, so maybe a small price.
I wonder if someone stole his rattle when he was a baby.

                                          • NafisaSB

agree - he covets whatever he sees, whatever the consequences.. shudder to think of the future in his powerful hands.. time someone or some country/ies called his bluff

                                            Powerful.

There is no justification there is only manipulation from Trump and his gang, and moreover she has lost all the respect she had when she received it. And let's face it a world full of strong woman who are inspiring are so very welcome in our world. You write the truth and this is a kudos. 🌹

                                              • NafisaSB

absolutely - she was manipulated into giving it in return for assistance for her country's benefit - or so she was made to believe..it is sad when idols turn out to have feet of clay...
yesterday i received a wapp forward stating these two were permanently debarred from receiving the Nobel..if it's true, then i salute the Nobel peace committee..

                                                • Teddy.15

Hopefully it\'s a real piece of news, because otherwise it undermines the very important message of the Novel Peace Prize if these stupidities are allowed, I never thought I\'d see the day Trump would ever become a president of the USA even once and now he has it twice, a very dark dangerous world, so nothing can suprise us anymore... 😢

                                                  • NafisaSB

agree with you here. the sad and uncertain truth is that he is rooting for a third term - God forbid...

yes - thank heavens for small mercies - though he will not let go that easy - is a wilful kid
