Memories of you, a fabricated tale
A lie, a ruse, a heartbreaking charade
You moved on, unphased, without a care
While I clung to what was never there
I banish you now, to the shadows of night
To the place of nonexistent, where you'll lose your light
My heart can heal, unshackled from your grasp
No longer will you haunt my present's grasp
I wish you well, I wish you peace
Happiness and love, may you find release
But for me, it's time to let go
Farewell, to what will never be, to what was never true

A tale of bitter disillusionment. Break-ups are never nice. They take a toll on us, for emotions control us, and not the other way round.
A poem of letting go and this seems much more frequent now days. Nicely worded it sends its message well.
