Perseverance in My Life"
I’ve walked through nights that stretched too long,
Beneath a sky devoid of song,
Where silence pressed against my chest
And every breath was put to test.
The path was strewn with jagged stone,
Each step a labor, blood and bone.
No lantern lit the way ahead—
Just whispers of the things I’d said:
“Go on,” they urged, though faint and thin,
“The fight you lose may not yet end.
I fell—oh, how the fall would sting—
On knees grown raw from offering
My will to storms that would not cease,
To shadows thick with disbelief.
But in the dirt, I made a vow:
Not to rise perfectly—just to now.
To lift one foot, then drag the next,
To face the world I had not texted
In golden terms or grand design,
But carved instead from grit and time.
Each scar became a quiet map,
A story stitched into my wrap
Of skin and soul. They taught me this:
That strength is not the absence of abyss—
But motion through it, slow and deep,
A promise that the soul will keep
When all else fails and hope seems far—
It's perseverance, not the star,
That pulls us from the weight of night,
And turns our wounds to inner light.
Now when I stand on higher ground,
No trumpet echoes; none around
To cheer the climb I fought alone—
But I have claimed my stony throne.
For triumph isn’t crowned in gold,
But in the will to keep bold
When every voice, both yours and mine,
Insists the journey's not worth the climb.
So here I stand, not unbroken,
But beautifully, fiercely woken.
Perseverance in my life has been
Not just a guide—my soul’s true skin.
Please don't try to change me.
Just accept me for who I am.
I've always been me.
Just me.

A good write. One step at a time, just one more step. If one focuses on just the next step one will get there. Nicely done
