Embrace me in this silence

Swarnendu Biswas

With a sky full of stars,

be silent like the sky itself,

and sit beside me—

cloaked in solitary beauty,

washed in the diamond glow

of clustered planets.

Two minds, alone, wordless,

sitting side by side—

only the fountain of heartbeats,

the rise and fall of lungs, breath sounds

and nothing else between us.

Leaving me, passing beyond me,

my soul, my being, my existence

will become your sky—

holding you in its shelter.

Even then,

that same silence

will surround us,

like a cloud.

If you come,

if you love—

then love me  like death:

in whose silence

every path of return

has been swept away.

The word within wordlessness—

I know it.

You understand it too.

Shallow bodies, shallow minds,

the clamour of expression—

they have never been able

to bind me,

not even across

seven lifetimes.
