MANS BEST FRIEND

nephilim56 ( Norman Dickson)

The child within
The hospital cubicle
Shivers with the shock
The stitches put
To ragged wounds
People stare at the clock.

Her mother says
To the staff
I cannot put the dog down
Its eight years old a family pet
The child shivers once again
At the prospect
Of returning home
To face the teeth that touched bone.

What is this madness ?
This child abuse
A child returned
To face the truth
That animals are the real kids
Children only  pets
A dogs life worth much more
Than a child in fear kept.

Dogs and children both unpredictable in their behaviors and individuals with their own issues and personalities. We put children back in homes with abusers whether human or canine. It is the poor judgement of the law and parents that leads to tragedy. A most interesting write where values are displayed.
