Love should feel like buoyancy, not survival.

Job Welime

I’m sorry I drowned you in my love, when all you wanted
was to keep your head above the water.

I came in waves heavy with intention, full of forever,
thinking depth was devotion.

But you were already swimming, already tired, already fighting currents,
I never stopped to ask about.

I mistook closeness for safety, mistook giving more for loving better.

And somewhere between my need to hold and your need to breathe,
we lost the rhythm.

So this is my apology, not for loving deeply,
but for loving without listening.

I release you to the shore you were reaching for,
and I step back into my own tide,
I am learning that love should feel like buoyancy,
not survival.
