The Culprit Hides (+1)

Kurt Philip Behm

Determine who

the crime will profit

and you will find

your man

Fortune baits

perdition’s wolf

with larceny

in hand

Behind this world’s

ill-gotten gains

and lurking

deep within

There hides the culprit

long surmised

who wears the mark

— of sin

(Dreamsleep: January, 2026)

The Question

Intention makes

the student

Reflection makes

the master

Their difference in

the question

A lifetime takes

— to answer

No motive no crime, follow the money they say. A great poem Kurt that follows a detectives shoes. Well done

    Many thanks.

Kurt, these poems speak to each other across registers…one exposes the mechanics of harm, the other the cost of wisdom. Together they suggest that seeing clearly is only the beginning, and living with the question is the real work. I couldn't agree more. 💯 Powerful, disciplined writing, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦‍⬛

You are right. It all revolves around ... the question.
