Us Again

Tonya Titus

Here we are,

like something just made;

two figures painfully carved out of hard feelings

since forgiven -

splintery, perhaps, in some still rough places,

but not unlovely for unfinished works.

In our new state we have found each other's love,

'though it was never missing...

needing only a chisel.

    This is a marvelous poem with such a wonderful metaphor that fits it so well. It speaks with its splinters and chips rough and yet not so raw but more finished in its incompleteness lies its charm. A fave

    Some people have flaws and these flaws are what make them beautiful. Nobody is perfect. If anyone says they are they are lying. I enjoyed your poem very much.
