My mind is rattled as I struggle to believe that it’s you
You were sunshine in the darkness to lead us through
But is it a facade with a crack, as I question if I’m starting to see what everyone else seems to already know is true?
Over and over, you make me think just for a moment that the sky isn’t so gray
But then, here we are, again, you’re in my way
Are you really as double faced as night and day?
You’re only going to cultivate toxicity trying to bury my words in silence
But then, how much better am I, being too afraid for defiance?
We’re conspiring against each other in the shadows, in the light, standing on a fictitious alliance
I say stop, no sooner do I look away do you say go
Distrust and apathy are the seeds we sow,
Discord and chaos are the weeds we grow
They’re not as loyal as you think, they spread whispers that flood me with ever greater confusion
Walls are too high, I don’t have the investment to see this through to its conclusion
I’m too impatient and too jaded to find which version of you is the delusion
While this is home to you, it is for me a brand new frontier
So, yes, I feel divided, feel unstable, I feel fear
Yet, I’ve never been more certain, so my only betrayal, I’m getting out of here
