Heart or Body

Rachel Poole

Which do I listen to?

The heart or the body?

My heart is telling me to trust again. "It’s ok, you won’t get hurt; not this time."

My body instinctively pulls away, telling me it’s too soon.

But when will it be time?

For my heart to be able to feel again?

My nerves tell me that I don’t have what it takes to go through another heartbreak.

But my heart wants to try so badly.

My mind is romancing the idea of love while my memories cloud all the light at the end of the tunnel.

The fear of someone leaving again is far too much to handle…my hands and breath start to tremble.

But my heart pounds so loudly, I can barely hear the quiver of uncertainty in my thoughts.

Is this hope? Is this fear? Is this if my own doing?

So which do I listen to?

The heart?

Or

The body?

The dilema of art and science that merge in the eye of the merger when the strength of inner self is strong enough to bare disappointment and depend on itself not others but open enough to accept risk and loss as well as the pleasure of love. Nicely written
