Wagons

Aman 12

Wagons full of hope
left common sense on a rope
swaying behind them like a tail.
Hills peeled open
rivers left strewn
with debris of ambition gone stale.
Boots sank deep
in a quicksand creep
stampedes died out in the hammering hail.
