Longer than Earth Has Been Born

Joseph M Marion

Alone, I stand before where space began,
Since Earth was shaped by eternal spark of all life living and void,
Before the seas, before the skies,
Before the dawn of newborn cries.

One on the throne took giai again and again from me,
A silent thief of what I longed to be with for all eternity.

Alone, as ancient rocks have known,
In silence deep, in shadows thrown,
Through epochs vast and ages worn,
Alone as long as Earth was born.

I'm the defender of all life living and avoid, I stand,
A guardian strong across the land,
I watch the mountains rise and fall,
The forests grow, the rivers call,

Yet in this endless, boundless space,
Alone I drift, with no warm embrace, for my soul does ache.

The stars have spun their endless dance,
While I remain in quiet trance,
A solitary soul, forlorn,
Alone longer than Earth has been born.

No voice to break the hollow night,
No hand to hold, no shared light,
Through every dawn, through every storm,
Alone as longer than Earth has known.

Yet in this solitude, I find,
A strength that binds my restless mind,
For in the vastness, I am sworn—

To be alone as Earth was born.
To promise my legions to only one in blood
To do as he commands without one word
To be here to the very end
Even if All the rest do not believe I was given the gift of great light to see the truth.
Alone, Longer than Earth has been born.
