Star light
Star bright
Shining in the dark night
All alone
On its own
Quietly it always shone
All gone
Come on
Stay here until dawn
Next day
Didn’t stay
Star somehow went away
Goodbye
Up high
Up there in the sky

- Comment from author about the poem: I enjoy stargazing and sometimes I’ll notice a star that was there has suddenly disappeared the next night. I remember learning about how we only see them because they have exploded and that’s why they can disappear, once it finally reaches us. It was an interesting concept to me and I figured I’d write about it.

What we think immortal has its time as well. Even the stars have lives and we can not depend upon them forever. Nicely written
Yes it’s very enlightening. Thank you for the comment Soren.
You are very welcome
I have to guess you live in the northern hemisphere if you can distinguish an individual star. Down south I doubt you would make it, unless astronomer when spoiled for choice...
What I find so mind bending is the thought that the actual event (disappearance) may have occurred (depending on distance) way before life on earth.
It is a very chilling concept that the light, or explosion, happened long before many of us were even aware of it. It makes you wonder what other things have occurred that way. Thank you again for your comment though, I do appreciate your support.
As an adolescent, I became very wrapped in the concept of the immensity of space , infinity eternity and so on to the point where (and I'm not going to name it) I almost lost any sense of reality, had to make the effort to drag myself back to the tangible world I live in. This is mostly where I try to stay now.
Those concepts are unfathomable for us to grasp and understand. I’m glad you were able to bring yourself back before you were lost completely. I used to lie in bed for hours thinking about eternity and it would often get to the point where I would give myself a panic attack. I can understand, maybe not to the full point, but at least some of where you’re coming from. Glad you could save yourself, as that’s not always the case.
No, I think you understand pretty much completely and managed to make it back too. 'See you further down the line; in the meantime take care of yourself.
Thank you, I wish the best for you too.
