the cutting room floor

Tristan Robert Lange

Notice of absence from Tristan Robert Lange
Friends, I’m doing my best to keep up with comments. 😅 I’m still current on my own poems and first replies on others’ work, but this season has been a bit of a twister. Figured I’d drop a quick note so you don’t think I’ve vanished or gone flaky.
Read. Write. Rise. Realize. 🤘💀🖤
in this promethean world,
where even in the movies
the happiest endings
are the sappiest trendings—
where wicked labels cast
become the actor’s couch,
where one’s always their past
upon the cutting room floor,
gored out by a soaring pecker—
what is truly good anyway?

Ah I love the mystery left at the end, I would say that each individual has their own idea of what a happy ending should be. Dark or light nothing is wrong depends on our taste. 🌹

Teddy, I love that you sat with the mystery instead of trying to tidy it up…that’s the uncomfortable space this poem lives in. The idea that each of us defines “good” differently…dark or light…says a lot about the lenses we wear. Thank you for meeting it there, my dear friend. 🔥🎥📰🙏

A thought provoking poem about the present state of affairs. It does seem that people are action, sex, blood thirsty, violent junkies. There is little interest of patience for anything else. Even in poetry my most highly rated poems by independent judges even AI are read the least while those catered to common interests with low ratings are read the most. It goes to show Tristan that marketing is everything and a flamboyant show of death, sex, violence and dark endings are what people want to see. A wonderful eye opening write

Soren, this is such an honest reflection…there’s a real weariness in what you’re naming. The tension between substance and spectacle is hard to ignore, especially when numbers seem to reward noise. I appreciate you seeing that layer in the poem and speaking it plainly. 🔥🎥📰🙏

        • Friendship

Your poem magnificently captures the profound exploration of identity, memory, and the enthralling dance between personal history and societal expectations, boldly critiquing the superficial facade of happiness often portrayed in movies and poignantly suggesting that authentic experiences and emotions are frequently discarded, much like the powerful metaphor of footage on the cutting room floor serves to illuminate the often-overlooked yet vital aspects of life and identity.

          • Tristan Robert Lange

My friend, I’m humbled by how thoroughly you entered this…especially your take on identity and what gets left behind for the sake of a polished narrative. The cutting room floor is crowded with truth. Thank you for honoring that tension with such depth, as you always do, my friend. You to understood this poem in its entirety. 🔥🎥📰🙏

Good write T. But heck, in a film about P & co, so much had to be cut out of the film that there's only 1% of it left - 1 minute of film, that is, as it was 100 minutes long originally! lol. They've edited it to its full length though, with stores of knitting, spinach recipes, and sabre/sword fighting! lol.
What ARE we talking about? What an obscure comment. Sadly, don't answer that! lol.

            • Tristan Robert Lange

Orchidee, haha…this made me laugh out loud. Only 1% surviving the edit…now that’s brutal. The absurdity of what gets cut versus what gets kept is half the point, so your comment fits the chaos perfectly. As for P and Co., well, we all know they are hopeless by this glugging point! LOL! Always grateful for your wit, my friend. 🔥🎥📰🙏

              • orchidee

Heehee. But is that a true estimate - only 1% left?! lol.

              • Paul Bell

Death by a thousand cuts, and that was just the dyslexic barber.
Happy endings have been replaced by violent sequels, even James Bond has no time for kissing now.
Mind you, going to the local shops can get you killed if you're smiling too much these days.

                • Tristan Robert Lange

Paul, “death by a thousand cuts” is a wickedly fitting echo here…especially with the barber twist. The escalation from romance to relentless sequel culture captures the exhaustion beneath the humor. Your comment keeps it alive and sharp, my friend. Always grateful. 🔥🎥📰🙏

Thank you, Hayleigh! Much appreciated, my friend! 🔥🎥📰🙏
