My Struggles

Yazz

My smiles are bright with a lovely display,

Only to be shunned out to my dismay,

Clutching to my personality, I hold so dear,

Waiting on that one person who could make me smile ear to ear.

A bad first impression teaches a valuable lesson,

A thing so powerful that it’s the world's greatest weapon,

One such as myself suffers from it when it matters most,

A poison that I, myself take in such a high dose.

My smile, feigning and fake,

Smiling when inside my heart aches,

I’ll keep carrying on,

To find someone to whom I’d belong.

Life was once so bright,

Now lethargic and dull,

I was once full of fight,

Now crying has become my lull.

What do I have here?

Who can I open up to?

What can I fight for?

Who can I march with?

I guess I’ll never know,

As the heart ache and longing grow,

Now my light has no glow,

Figure, I’ve only felt low.

A poem of poor self esteem where one must put on a face although one does not feel such. A longing for someone to trust and ally with but with little hope. It calls out of the darkness for help but hears nothing. It is sad and sounds lonely. Nicely written
